Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Skin Perfecting Liquid, REVIEW

The brand:

American, chemical (in a good way), very well known for their range of exfoliators.

The product:

Salicylic acid toning liquid

Who can use it:

This is specifically for combination/oily skins. I would say it’s gentle enough for anyone.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Methylpropanediol (hydration), Butylene Glycol (hydration), Salicylic Acid (Beta Hydroxy Acid, exfoliant), Polysorbate 20 (stabilizer), Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract (skin calming/antioxidant), Sodium Hydroxide (pH balancer), Tetrasodium EDTA (stabilizer).

Not in the ingredients:

fragrance, alcohol, animal by-products

Packaging:

The classic size bottle is just a standard screw top lid. I dab it on my face like a cologne. However, BE WARNED if you buy the travel size bottle it will leak everywhere.

How to use:

As with any acid toner, after cleansing. I apply the liquid cologne style, by dabbing the liquid from my palms to face. I use morning and evening, several times a week. Avoid the eyes, of course. And follow with SPF.

How much:

£26 for 118ml. yer 118 ….. and £8 for 30ml. It works out more expensive for us in the UK. But a little of the liquid goes a long way.

The Good:

For an acne-prone oily skin, this product is great. It’s a salicylic acid dedicated acid, meaning it specifically targets breakouts and blackheads. BHA’s are designed to speed up the skins exfoliation process. It will encourage the skin to shed and take all the crap away with it. After a few uses I saw a significant difference in the blackheads on my nose and the spot scarring on my cheeks. This product continues to keep my spots at bay, whilst helping to repair scarred skin. It’s not loaded with alcohol, so it doesn’t dry out the skin either. I could not recommend it enough for my fellow combination/oily/acne skins. Lots of other people love it too, it’s a bit of a cult favourite.

The Bad:

Paula’s Choice is a bit more expensive for us Brits. But really, a great product, it does what it says on the bottle.

Recommend?:

For someone who really hates their spots, blackheads and acne – completely.

I will be trying out her other acids, I’m sure!

Avaliable: at Paula’s Choice, and Look Fantastic.
